We are a Top 250 ranked CPA firm based out of the Chicago, IL area hiring for a Tax Director with strong leadership skills, strong technical acumen, and strategic expertise. This is a remote opportunity with opportunity to advance rapidly into a Partner position given strong performance.

What You Will Be Doing

• Supervise, train, and mentor Tax Managers / Associates on client engagements and technical issues.
• Identify and implement tax planning and consulting opportunities.
• Review and manage tax returns, extensions, tax planning calculations, for all entity types with a focus on Individual
• Review financial statements and perform accounting and adjusting entries, bank reconciliations, and client books and records
• Prepare and review complex tax planning projections for individual and corporate estimated tax liability for key clients
• Managing client engagements from start to finish which includes planning, executing, directing and completing tax projects, managing the budget, meeting deadlines and client expectations.
• Prepare or review complex U.S. and state individual income, gift tax, and estate tax returns
• Conduct complex tax research and prepare memorandum outlining findings and conclusions
• Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquires, and tax notices
• Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters
• Lead department in knowledge of software, processes, and workflows
  
  

What You Need for this Position

• 10-15 years of relevant experience
• Experience in individual tax compliance, planning
• Outgoing and friendly personality a team player
• Desire and ability to train, mentor/lead, and develop staff
  
  

Preferred -

• Experience in partnership tax would be a
• Experience with Trust & Estates big
