Job Summary:
Provides day-to-day technical support services, locally or remotely, to employees for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware. Installs configures and troubleshoots desktop or mobile systems, workstations, and network issues in a heterogeneous environment. Tests and evaluates commercial and Laboratory-developed software for quality control and proper operation. Maintains passwords, data integrity, and file system security for the desktop environment. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.
- Provide technical support services for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop or mobile systems, workstations, and network issues.
- Test and evaluate commercial and Laboratory-developed software for quality control and proper operation.
- Maintain passwords, data integrity, and file system security for the desktop environment.
- Communicate highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Recommend hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.
- Support distributed PC/networking environment, including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for stand-alone PCs, PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals.
- Perform software installation and configurations.
- Provide technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone or on-site.
- Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals.
- Configure operating systems and load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs.
- Troubleshoot computer problems and perform hardware and software diagnostics.
- Coordinate needed repairs and resolve computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network.
- Participate in the evaluation of system configuration and software.
- Handle a high volume of technical support inquiries and troubleshoot issues via phone, chat, email, and remote access tools.
- Transition from a teleworking capacity to an on-site role as needed to support career growth and professional development.
- Experience providing technical support services for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware.
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting desktop or mobile systems, workstations, and network issues.
- Ability to test and evaluate commercial and Laboratory-developed software for quality control and proper operation.
- Knowledge of maintaining passwords, data integrity, and file system security for the desktop environment.
- Strong communication skills to convey highly technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.
- Experience recommending hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.
- Proficiency in supporting distributed PC/networking environments, including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for stand-alone PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals.
- Ability to perform software installation and configurations.
- Experience in providing technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone or on-site.
- Proficiency in installing and testing personal computers, printers, and peripherals.
- Ability to configure operating systems, load shrink-wrap programs, and other application software programs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for computer problems and performing hardware and software diagnostics.
- Ability to coordinate needed repairs and resolve computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network.
- Experience in participating in the evaluation of system configuration and software.
- Ability to handle a high volume of technical support inquiries and troubleshoot issues via phone, chat, email, and remote access tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
Work Location: (Hybrid-Onsite required 1 day per month for training)
