As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will join our team to provide critical support in managing and maintaining our database environment, predominantly Sybase, with plans to transition to a pure SQL Server environment within three years. You will need strong troubleshooting skills and experience with formal change control environments. The position requires working 40 hours per week, with two days onsite, and participating in a rotation for on-call support during weekends after an initial learning period.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing and maintaining Sybase 15.7 databases, particularly during after-hours implementations.
- Develop and run CRON jobs and manage Unix command-line operations.
- Support ongoing tasks such as weekly data fixes and database maintenance activities.
- Aid in the transition from Sybase to SQL Server, contributing to the project to migrate databases.
- Work with SQL Server databases, including managing Windows Servers and clusters.
- Assist with Disaster Recovery planning and execution in development, test, and production environments.
- Collaborate with senior DBAs to reduce their workload by taking on critical tasks.
- Participate in scheduled projects and provide on-call support during weekends as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to ensure system stability and performance.
- 4-5 years of experience with both Sybase and SQL Server.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Unix/Solaris/Linux, particularly in developing and running CRON jobs.
- Familiarity with Sybase ASE 15.7 in a Unix environment.
- Experience with SQL Server, including managing clusters and Windows Servers.
- Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and execution.
- Desired experience in migration from Sybase to SQL Server.
