As a Mainframe/Cobol Programmer, you will provide essential maintenance and support for mainframe systems, using mainframe tools to sustain legacy systems. Your role will involve assisting in data gathering, creating queries, reporting from the legacy system, interpreting legacy code, and documentation for client projects. You will also participate in testing, implementation, and technical support, while collaborating with team members to evaluate new development tools and systems.

As a Mainframe/Cobol Programmer, you will provide essential maintenance and support for mainframe systems, using mainframe tools to sustain legacy systems. Your role will involve assisting in data gathering, creating queries, reporting from the legacy system, interpreting legacy code, and documentation for client projects. You will also participate in testing, implementation, and technical support, while collaborating with team members to evaluate new development tools and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write detailed technical design documents and develop COBOL applications
- Maintain and modify system documentation with clarity and precision
- Lead meetings and provide clear communication and follow-up
- Perform secure coding and release management
- Develop applications based on both traditional waterfall and agile requirements
- Validate test data and test results to ensure accuracy
- Manage special projects and serve on evaluation committees as assigned
- Assist in gathering system requirements and developing solutions accordingly
- Facilitate problem resolution through defect tracking and issue monitoring
- Ensure proper change management for system fixes and changes in system designs
- Provide technical support to team members and share knowledge regularly
- Assist Senior Management in promoting a professional workplace environment
- Proficiency in COBOL application development and system documentation
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals
- Ability to work independently while successfully collaborating with team members
- Expertise in secure coding, release management, and development for both internal and external applications
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including task estimation and defect tracking
- Experience with Xgen, Algol, Unisys, BL products, Programmer’s Workbench, Cande, DMSII, COMS, WFL, ERGO
- Familiarity with data capture software and understanding of change management processes
- Ability to lead meetings, follow-up on tasks, and maintain technical and managerial skills
