Position Summary
The Systems Engineer designs, implements, troubleshoots, analyzes and maintains the IT Infrastructure of the internal and external environments; including network connectivity and utilization, Windows server administration, virtualization, performance tuning, backup and restore. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Maintains documentation of networks and systems. Performs a variety of complicated tasks, and provide support for escalated trouble tickets. The Systems Engineer reports to the Director of Information Technology.

Primary Responsibilities/Duties
· Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation as it relates to server and network topology, equipment, and configuration(s).
· Creates project plans, design, and implements solutions.
· Creates, requests, and presents technical specifications and requirements for purchasing of new servers and networking equipment via quote procedure.
· Participates in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed.
· Standard system administration duties including server install, System/Application install and patch management, Windows problem determination and resolution, log analysis, etc.
· Configures, tests, and maintains LAN equipment and services, including switches, routers, firewalls and VPN.
· Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems including network connectivity, traffic utilization, etc. using available network tools in a timely fashion.
· Provides Infrastructure services in all areas needed: storage networking, Operating System, network security, directory services, server virtualization using system backup and restore, system and network monitoring, application installation and configuration.
· Assists with monthly reports, and recommendations.
· Interfaces with third party vendors.
· Stays current with system information, changes, and updates.
· Assists with the creation and maintenance of IT departmental policies.
· Performs all other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Qualifications (Education/Experience)
- Technical training beyond high school with an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science strongly preferred.
- Must be comfortable multi-tasking in a role that interfaces with various levels of the organization, including Senior Management and site personnel.
- Requires a minimum of 7-9 years of prior IT experience. Prior experience working for a service provider is a plus.
