Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) to lead and oversee the company's EHS programs across multiple offices, bulk material handling, manufacturing sites, and analytical lab facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that all work activities are conducted safely, facilities comply with environmental regulations, and the company maintains a culture of safety excellence. The Corporate Director of EHS will provide leadership, policy development, and compliance oversight, ensuring that all sites meet or exceed local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:
Reports to: VP of Operations
Type: Exempt; Full-time
Work Hours: Flexible, but must be available, 8:00-5:00, Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekend work.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Site EHS managers
Location: On site, Houston TX
Work environment: Split between an office environment, an industrial manufacturing environment, and a construction environment where the use of PPE is required. Occasional lifting and manual work.
Travel: Moderate - Less than 25% as needed to meet with members and attend off-site meetings
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status.

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategic Oversight
- Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate EHS strategy aligned with company goals.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to EHS Managers at multiple facilities.
- Establish and communicate EHS performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
- Foster a proactive safety culture where all employees are engaged in EHS initiatives.
- Serve as the company's EHS subject matter expert, advising executive leadership on compliance risks and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all work activities at bulk material handling and manufacturing sites are performed safely and in compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
- Oversee incident investigation processes, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Develop and standardize safety policies, training programs, and procedures across all sites.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure sites implement corrective actions.
- Drive initiatives to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and near-miss incidents.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws (Clean Sweep, EPA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, etc.).
- Develop and oversee environmental management programs to maintain compliance with air emissions, water discharge, hazardous waste handling, and sustainability initiatives.
- Work with EHS Managers to manage permitting, reporting, and regulatory submissions.
- Lead corporate sustainability efforts, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental impact reduction.
- Establish corporate-wide EHS standards, policies, and best practices across all facilities.
- Lead the development of corporate safety training programs, ensuring all employees receive adequate and effective EHS training.
- Standardize emergency response, hazard communication, and crisis management procedures.
- Implement and manage a behavior-based safety (BBS) program to proactively reduce risk.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, state/local agencies) for corporate EHS matters.
- Ensure all required EHS reports, permits, and filings are completed accurately and on time.
- Represent the company in regulatory audits and inspections, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety and environmental performance at each facility.
- Conduct trend analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement data-driven safety initiatives.
- Lead the adoption of new safety technologies and innovations to enhance compliance and reduce risk.
- Facilitate EHS best practice sharing across all sites.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in EHS leadership roles, preferably within bulk material handling, heavy manufacturing, or industrial processing industries.
- Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- OSHA 500/501 Trainer Certification
- ISO 14001 and 45001 Auditor Certification
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Experience managing environmental permitting, hazardous materials, and industrial hygiene programs.
- Proficiency in EHS management systems, incident tracking software, and data analytics tools.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with competing priorities.
