Cycology Bicycles Buyer / Product Specialist:
The buyer will work in collaboration with the owner, management team, staff, and cycling industry vendors to manage all purchasing needs for Cycology Bicycles. In addition to working with this team, the buyer will utilize Ascend (retail management system) to implement and monitor their strategy. The ultimate goal for this position is to create value for Cycology Bicycles by having the right product in the right place at the right time.
This position will also focus on coaching staff to ensure excellent product delivery. This will include implementing training sessions on the most up-to-date products in the cycling industry and how to apply that knowledge in the steps to selling. The Buyer will inform staff on selling points for new product mix when it lands, so they are set up for success.
This individual will work on the sales floor, averaging 70% of the work week, to ensure they receive quality feedback from our customers and staff on product mix and inventory availability. This will allow the buyer to better identify opportunities for growth and/or consolidation and hone in on product mix. This will also lend to excellent communication with staff on inventory feedback and training.
Position Responsibilities
- Fulfilled weekly buying schedule and replenished all products from primary vendors.
- Track orders to ensure prompt delivery for both store stock and special orders.
- Coordinate with Store Management, Owner, and vendors as needed to assure accounting is timely and terms best suit the profitability of the business.
- Participate in seasonal and pre-season purchasing activities.
- Attend cycling industry trade shows and seminars with Owner and Management as needed
- Ensure that the inventory mix is supporting company level strategic initiatives and maximizing inventory productivity and profitability.
- Anticipate and proactively address roadblocks before they affect business results.
- Communicate with staff on customer feedback of inventory mix.
- Coach staff on product delivery.
- Coordinate with industry representatives to ensure shop visits and set up clinics

Position Requirements
- You must be an avid cyclist and have experience working in the cycling industry.
- This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Fun and flexible attitude with a strong desire to exceed goals and expectation
- Retail purchasing and *demand planning
- Technical knowledge of bicycles preferred
- Proactive problem-solving approach with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven critical thinking and collaborative skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, suppliers, and staff
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Extensive knowledge of Excel preferred. Knowledge of demand planning software and web-based analysis tools is preferred
- Occasional domestic travel
*Demand planning is a supply chain management process of forecasting, or predicting, the demand for products to ensure they can be delivered and satisfy customers. The goal is to strike a balance between having sufficient inventory levels to meet customer needs without having a surplus.
