Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Crossing Guard to ensure the safety of pedestrians at designated crosswalks. This role is essential in promoting safe traffic practices and providing a secure environment for students during school hours. Responsibilities
- Monitor traffic flow and ensure safe passage for pedestrians at crosswalks, particularly during school arrival and dismissal times.
- Communicate effectively with individuals and drivers to promote awareness of crossing procedures.
- Utilize hand signals and signage to direct traffic and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Remain alert to potential hazards in the surrounding environment, including vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
- Provide assistance in emergency situations as needed, including administering first aid or CPR if required.
- Maintain compliance with local regulations and safety standards set forth by organizations such as OSHA and EPA.
- Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to appropriate authorities promptly.
Requirements
- MO Crossing Guard Certification
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals and drivers.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is preferred; certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations is beneficial for maintaining confidentiality in emergency situations.
- Ability to recognize vital signs and respond appropriately during emergencies.
- Understanding of compliance management principles related to safety protocols.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in a safety-related role is an advantage but not mandatory.
