The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in records management, medical terminology, and typing. A minimum of 9 months' experience in records management, 3 months in medical terminology, and 3 months in typing are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
- Organize medical reports for filing and review charts to ensure all reports and signatures are present.
- Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, fill out forms, and prepare requests for reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports including daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, and length of stay.
- File reports into health information records, record information in logs, and retrieve health information records from the filing system.
- Provide information from health information records after verifying the appropriateness of requests.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding health information records procedures.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of health information technology and regulations governing medical record keeping and confidentiality.
- Proficient in using typewriters, word processors, and calculators.
- Able to deal with problems involving few variables within a familiar context.
- Capable of writing routine business letters, evaluations, or records following standard procedures.
- Skilfully proofreading medical reports, recognizing errors, and identifying missing medical records information.
- Able to gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.
