- Manage the day-to-day operations and responsibilities of the Employee Health Department
- Responsible for managing and evaluating the performance of the Employee Health staff
- Oversee the Workers' Compensation Program to control costs and losses due to work-related injuries; report employee injuries to the Environment of Care Committee
- Record and maintain the OSHA log and report data annually as per guidelines
- Monitor and report injuries involving blood-borne pathogen exposure from sharps injuries to the appropriate committees and the Department of Public Health
- Manage and evaluate employees with work-related injuries, communicating progress to their supervisor or manager
- Participate in regular meetings with claims service company and legal team to manage outstanding claims
- Coordinate and manage hospital-wide annual influenza vaccination programs and track related data for reporting
- Plan and manage the Employee Health department’s budget
- Conduct pre-placement health screenings, assess immunizations, and conduct mask fit testing for all applicable healthcare personnel
- Provide first aid to employees with work-related illnesses or injuries
- Engage in independent decision-making and clinical care within the scope of nursing knowledge and protocols of care
- Provide healthcare personnel with referrals to other providers or the Emergency Department when necessary
- Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality
- Monitor healthcare personnel for illnesses and exposures and communicate necessary information to the Infection Prevention and Control team
- Consult with physicians when medical expertise is needed beyond the scope of nursing knowledge and protocols
- Maintain files on all existing employees containing medical histories, physicals, results of evaluative procedures, and other health information
- Serve as an active member of the Infection Prevention and Control, Sharps, and Environment of Care Committees and provide statistical data related to employee exposures
