Job Description
- The unit manages 12 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:3, depending on acuity and emergencies.
- Successful candidates need to be flexible with scheduling; self-scheduling is initially offered, but team balancing is required.
- Weekend work required; expectations include working 4-6 days within a 6-week timeframe.
- Floating is mandatory; RNs may float to other ICUs within the hospital based on skill set.
- The dress code requires teal bottoms and black or printed coordinating scrub tops; specific restrictions on nail treatments apply.
- Orientation includes two shifts focused on department-specific training.
- Charting and documentation are done using the EpicCare Inpatient EMR system.
- Support from intensivists is available in-house 24/7, with Respiratory Therapists and Advanced Practice Providers present on the unit.
- RNs are expected to read their own telemetry strips.
- In the event of low census, flexibility regarding shift assignments is required; standby is rare.
