Must-Have
- Expertise in CRRT/SLED training on the NxStage system
- Experience with PA catheters/hemodynamics
- Preferred experience in spinal drain management
- Provide care in the ICU for thoracic surgery and overflow general surgery ICU
- Offer support in a busy/large Level 1 Trauma Center
- Flexibility in scheduling with no self-scheduling
- Possess early recognition skills for changes in patient condition
- Clear communication and escalation with providers
- Utilize critical thinking skills and proficiency in CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator management, and various drains/surgical sites
- Titrate drips including vasopressin, epinephrine, levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, nimbex, esmolol, and cardene
- Work under a charge nurse, who may take a full assignment, depending on staffing
- Engage with intermittent nurse aids/patient care techs, depending on census, responsible for patient ADLs, blood glucose checks, and transport assistance
- Collaborate with an in-house hospitalist/intensivist and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) present 24/7
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment like vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
- Read their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
- Participate in self-scheduling with some management adjustments
- Meet weekend requirements of 4-6 days in 6 weeks, depending on coverage
- Adhere to floating requirements to other ICUs within the hospital, based on skill set
- Follow dress code: teal bottoms, black or printed coordinating scrub top, no fleece jackets, shellac, dip, or acrylic nails, with unchipped regular nail polish allowed
- Complete two shifts of unit/department-specific orientation
- Use Epic Systems Corporation - EpicCare Inpatient - EMR Core for charting
