- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night.
- Common patient diagnoses include total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedures, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, and medical overflow.
- Familiarity with hemo hemovacs, JP drains, and colostomies is required.
- No GYN patients; cardiac patients are managed in a separate telemetry unit.
- Occasional management of heparin drips, PCA pumps, and TPN.
- Charge Nurse on each shift; may occasionally handle low acuity assignments.
- Nurse aides/patient care tech ratios are 1:12, with one tech per nurse.
- RNs will troubleshoot nasal cannula and require Respiratory Therapy for treatments.
- Telemetry/monitor tech support available; RNs are not required to read strips.
- Scheduling managed by the manager, with potential for block scheduling based on unit needs.
- Expectations include participating in bedside shift reports.
- Candidates are expected to float to medical and telemetry units and may assist with medical patients.
- Dress code allows for any color scrubs.
- A strong, supportive team culture within the unit.
