Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a 32-bed unit with PCU-level care overflow.
- Responsible for a ratio of 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights, with some PCU level care at 1:3.
- Manage common diagnoses and types of patients including adults and geriatrics, cardiac catheterizations, EP studies, pacemakers, ETOH, Covid Bipap, occasional general surgical with heart history, medical patients with cardiac history, pneumonia, Covid, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis.
- Telemetry/cardiac RN desired with PCU experience. Experience with Epic is preferred.
- Titrate drips: Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine. No Levo involved.
- Serve in a team with a charge nurse available each shift, occasionally taking a light load of 2-3 patients.
- Assist with RT equipment including Bipap, trachs, airvo, etc., and troubleshoot as needed.
- Operate and oversee Tele/Monitor with portable monitors and monitors in the rooms.
- Required to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Follow scheduling as managed by the unit manager, with consideration for blocked schedules based on unit needs.
- Requirement to work every other weekend and holiday.
- Serve as float nurse in all areas as needed, with full patient loads in PCU and MS, and some ER holds/boarding.
- Flexible dress code with any color scrubs.
- Participate in a departmental orientation of 2-12 hour shifts, completed on Friday and Saturday of the first week, with independent work starting Sunday.
- More focused on tele/cardiac care.
