Job Description
- Unit: Telemetry, Surgical/Neuro (4th Floor)
- Bed count: 48 (combining two units, 4A and 4B)
- Patient ratios: 1:5
- Common diagnoses/types of patients: COVID, respiratory, gastrointestinal, diabetes, telemetry, TIA, CVA, as well as general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
- RN responsibilities include interpreting telemetry strips and signing at least once per shift
- Telemetry is monitored remotely with technicians on the 3rd floor
- Charge nurse and house supervisor available; charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
- Nurse aide ratios: 1:10-15
- Equipment: Bipap, Cpap, high flow, and some breathing treatments
- Shifts are 12 hours (7:00-19:30) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch; schedules are made out for 4-week periods and utilize self-scheduling, balanced by the manager
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day for major holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day)
- Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
- Orientation: 1 shift of orientation on the unit
- Cancellation policy: Up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract

- Trauma Level: Acute Care Setting
