Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Show understanding of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
- Audit data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the relevant information needed to identify individual patient needs.
- Provide sonographic examination of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation.
- Exercise professional judgment in performance of procedures.
- Perform diagnostic medical sonography within the department and other areas as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and files.
- Assume responsibility for departmental quality assurance program.
- Pursue ongoing education and professional development.
- Transfer patients to and from imaging safely.
- Assume responsibility of department in the absence of a supervisor.
- Rotate shifts as required and perform ancillary duties as requested by a supervisor.
- Adhere to policies and procedures established by the administration.
- Assist in general hygiene maintenance of the department.
- Maintain composure and effectiveness in situations of stress.
- Be willing to learn other imaging modalities as required by management.
- Perform duties in two fields of ultrasound (General and vascular, or Cardiac) and be open to performing other duties as assigned.
- Perform all requested ultrasound exams for diagnostic interpretation by a radiologist.
- Seek higher-level education and RDMS certification in Abdomen, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS.
- Care for transducers and maintain the neatness of the work area.
- Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and participate in policy and procedure preparation.
- Consult with referring physicians as necessary.
- Care for the Trophon station and assist with obtaining departmental accreditations.
- Actively pursue education in this evolving field.
- Attend department/organizational meetings, in-services, and disaster drills as required.
