Secondary Special Education Curriculum Coordinator 2025-2026 School Year

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
• Master’s degree plus Principal’s certification from a recognized, accredited college or university;
• Valid certification as a special education teacher;
• Demonstrated successful experience in working with special needs students preferred;
• Three (3) years of successful experience as a special education teacher preferred.

Probationary/Term Contract: 210 days

Salary

$71,763 (IA 4)

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025

Essential Functions

• Work cooperatively with the curriculum department members in developing and supervising the secondary instructional programs.
• Work cooperatively with the curriculum department members and special education coaches to create, implement, and support accommodations, modifications, and district assessments.
• Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data), to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
• Monitor student performance for state and federal accountability.
• Work cooperatively with the curriculum department to provide staff development for teachers in areas related to improving student learning and performance in reading and writing.
• Provide staff development for teachers in the areas of IEP development, co-teach models, classroom management, data collection, accommodations, and modifications.
• Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
• Assist in the selection, location, and/or purchase of appropriate instructional/diagnostic materials for use with students with disabilities.
• Work closely with the other secondary special education coordinators and coaches to monitor curriculum implementation.
• Serve as a chairperson for multi-campus IEP meetings.
• Keep abreast of current trends, laws, and regulations governing special education.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services and/or the Director of Special Education.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
