BSA Specialist II (4-Month Contract)

General Overview
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical professional to support our bank’s BSA/AML program. This role requires a medium to high level of expertise, with opportunities to mentor new associates and handle escalated issues. You’ll play a key role in regulatory compliance, transaction monitoring, and investigative analysis while providing support to your team as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical tasks to support BSA/AML compliance efforts.
- Assist with regulatory filings, such as CTRs and 314(a) requests.
- Monitor various banking activities, including CTRs, monetary instruments, OFAC screenings, client transactions, and enhanced due diligence reviews.
- Conduct in-depth case investigations by analyzing transaction patterns, reviewing customer data, and utilizing open-source research tools.
- Recommend whether a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) should be filed and prepare SARs, SAR Refiles, and other regulatory filings as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather and analyze relevant information for investigations.
- Prepare comprehensive case documentation with detailed notes and supporting research.
- Recommend account closures or case escalations when necessary.
- Ensure all productivity and quality standards are met.
- Act as a subject matter expert by providing guidance to associates via in-person interactions, phone calls, and emails.
- Participate in special projects such as regulatory exam preparation, disaster recovery planning, system conversions, and report generation.
- Stay up to date on banking operations, compliance regulations, and risk management best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in compliance and/or bank operations.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Solid understanding of compliance regulations, banking laws, and operational procedures.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant professional certifications (if applicable).
- 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
Preferred:
- ACAMS, CRCM, or CAFP certification (preferred but not required; equivalent experience will be considered).
