1.0 Job Title: CNC machine center programmer

2.0 Duties & Responsibilities:

2.1 – Ability to program a variety of CNC machining centers. Including, but not limited VMC, HMC and turning centers.

2.2 – Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications for machined parts from customer supplied raw materials or materials as needed to meet customer specifications.

2.3 – Must be able to design appropriate work holding fixtures to secure workpiece for manufacturing purpose.

2.4 – Must be able to determine appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for machining the specified material in an efficient manner.

2.5 – Ability to select appropriate cutting tools; HHS, cobalt, coated, carbide or indexable to meet desired specifications.

2.5.1 – Ability to weigh cost vs effectiveness of desired results.

2.6 – Communications:

2.6.1 – Must communicate with all levels of employees

2.6.2 – May be required to communicate with customers

2.6.3 – May be required to communicate with various suppliers.

2.7 – Must comply with all company policies as issued

2.8 – Must support and participate in meeting the Quality Management System goals and objectives.

2.8.1 – May be required to conduct internal audits in support of the QMS.

3.0 Education / Experience required:

3.1 – Minimum high school graduate or GED or as approved by company management

3.2– Minimum 5 yrs. working in a machining (machine shop) environment

3.3 – Minimum 3 yrs. machine tool programming experience

3.4 – Minimum 3 yrs. experience in designing work holding fixtures using either / or both; mechanical drawing tools or automatic (electronic) design software.

4.0 Knowledge:

4.1 – Knowledgeable in design mechanics associated with work holding

4.2 – Knowledge of metallurgy as it relates to efficient metal removal.

5.0 Work Environment:

5.1 – 85% of work day is in an office environment.

5.2 – Balance of work day could be spent in machine shop or tool room.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.00 per week
