POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial Operations Manager supports the financial operations of the firm, focusing on accurate financial reporting and daily accounting tasks. This role assists senior leadership in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining financial controls, and providing financial insights to support decision-making. The position is hands-on, working closely with the finance team to execute core accounting functions and contribute to the firm’s operational success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by compiling and analyzing financial data.
  • Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Cash Flow Monitoring: Track and report on cash flow to ensure operational liquidity.
  • Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining and updating internal controls to safeguard the firm’s assets and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Audit Support: Provide support for external audits by preparing requested documentation and ensuring timely responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Policy and Process Improvement: Collaborate on refining financial policies, procedures, and accounting workflows for greater efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior finance staff and cross-functional teams to support financial operations and achieve departmental goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

Directly supervising staff day to day work, as well as scheduling, tracking time and paid time off, approving overtime and payroll documentation, providing performance feedback. Includes working with the Chief Operating Officer and Human Resources on resolving personnel issues and making recommendations for personnel growth, duty or location changes, employee reprimands, and terminations.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

Preferred Certifications: CPA or CMA certification (or working toward certification) preferred but not required.

·Experience:

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in financial services, investment banking, or a related industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with preparing financial statements and managing day-to-day accounting operations.

Technical Skills:

  • · Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and strong Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

WORKPLACE LOCATION

  • Our team operates out of our beautiful offices on Madison Avenue in New York City. This role requires daily presence in the office as well as at client offices for meetings, events, etc.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client deliverables.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires ability to travel locally by car/public transportation, as well as regular domestic trips involving air travel for multi-night stays.
