Job Description

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services necessary for our roofing and sheet metal projects. This role requires excellent negotiation skills, a strong understanding of market trends, and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.

Key Requirements

• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery performance.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure advantageous agreements.
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors, resolving issues and discrepancies as they arise.
• Develop and implement inventory control policies and procedures to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs.
• Monitor inventory turnover rates and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Analyze market trends and pricing to ensure cost-effective procurement.
• Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings without compromising product quality or project timeliness.
• Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that purchased materials meet or exceed industry standards.
• Implement quality control measures for incoming materials.
• Prepare and manage the purchasing budget, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
• Track and report on purchasing expenses to senior management.
• Work closely with project managers, estimators, and other departments to understand their material needs and ensure timely procurement.
• Foster effective communication and collaboration across departments.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing procurement.
• Maintain accurate records of al procurement activities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles, preferably in the construction or roofing industry.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Physical Demands

• Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, and moving around the facility and warehouse.
• Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, and controls.
• Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Visual Acuity: Close vision to read documents and computer screens, distance vision for inspecting materials.
• Hearing: Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and communications in a noisy environment.
• Environment: Work is performed in both office and warehouse settings, with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
