CMM Programmer

Responsibilities for CMM programmer
- Prepares CMM programs as required to CAD data and or prints for component parts and assemblies.
- Performs first off, in-process & end-of-run report inspections.
- Manages the expanding of customer prints/drawings.
- Creates a layout of checking fixtures.
- Creates any other layouts according to the layout request, issues reports.
- Prepares data for the PPAP submission as requested.
- Performs gauge studies, (GR & R’s), prepares Control Plans.
- Participates and assists in problem solving & analysis.
- Train and develop less experienced staff with the necessary programming and measurement skills to promote department growth.
Qualifications for CMM programmer
- A strong knowledge of CMM measuring devices and software. Preferred experience with Zeiss Calypso.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Other tools for measurement such as, but not limited to, mics, calipers, surface testers, height gauges, plug gauges.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance desirable.
- Actively participate in APQP Process especially in Gauge and Fixture design.
- Performs required incoming inspections based on the “Receiving incoming Inspection logs”.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Personal computer (Microsoft, Word, Excel).
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or an equivalent degree; basic knowledge in QS and ISO standards is recommended; CMM knowledge and 1-3 years of blueprint reading preferred. Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of standard mechanical and electrical instruments and functional gauges. Knowledge and understanding of GD&T. Knowledge and understanding of Industry Standards, (SAE ASME, ANSI, AMS, ASTM, FED-STD, MIL) is preferred. Experience in Microsoft programs is required.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and will occasionally be required to reach above shoulders and lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud noise. Safety glasses and safety shoes must be worn in the shop. This position requires employee to work in an indoor environment and come in direct contact with other staff and customers. The employee will be working near moving mechanical parts.
Working hours: Full-Time 1st Shift - 40 hours (Monday - Thursday) plus overtime when needed.
