JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for supervising and mentoring the lab team and day to day activities within the quality control function to ensure proper product quality and food safety, including Customer support and satisfaction in all QC matters.
Essential Functions

- Provide daily leadership to the Quality Team and other departments as needed.
- Assist in the development, training and implementation of QC procedures.
- Ensure that established process control procedures are followed throughout the laboratory.
- Monitor consistency in interpretation of procedural requirements and the content of QC reports; Resolve inconsistencies between the laboratory and Production.
- Support maintaining plant compliance with the HACCP Plan and quality systems programs.
- Provide training to Quality and Production associates on Food Safety, GMP requirements, process control and product evaluation when needed.
- Ensure compliance with FDA Good Laboratory Practices and /or Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Maintain daily product evaluation programs.
- Maintain a product quality level which meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Assist lab personnel to efficiently and effectively support operations.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement processes (root cause analysis, problem solving, complaint investigation, etc.)
- Work with HR to help develop Quality personnel through certificate programs, cross-training initiatives and setting clear objectives.
- Responsible for following food safety/regulatory policies and procedures, executing responsibilities as identified in standard operating procedures, and reporting food safety/regulatory concerns to the Production or Quality & Food Safety Manager.
- Maintain an organized, clean, safe and health conscious work environment.
- Responsible for managing budgets and expenses related to QC lab needs. Work collaboratively with other parts of the business for optimization of requests and expenses.
- Responsible for assisting in paperwork compliance review (Batch tickets, Daily Calibration, Weekly Calibration, Monthly Calibration, Water Checks, Cooling Tunnel, etc.) and ensuring the tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Daily expectation to observe the production floor.
- Responsible for ensuring all SAP QA transactions are up to date.
- Responsible for ensuring daily taste panel set up.
- Responsible for weekly supply update.
- Responsible for assisting equipment calibration and providing weekly updates.
- Responsible for Acidified Trending.
- Responsible for releasing product for shipment based off analytical and microbiological results.
- Responsible for working with R&D to update any variances seen.
- Responsible for investigating out of specification batches with Production.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid and cold temperatures.

The employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary on occasion depending on work load.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field
- 3 years’ experience in food & beverage industry
- 2 year’s supervisory experience
- 3 years’ experience in laboratory environment
- Knowledge of analytical methodologies, instrumentation and method validation
- Proficiency with regulation and guideline interpretation, review procedures, proper documentation and lab departmental policies
