Auto Repair Technician

Midas of Shelbyville is a seeking full-time technician for our busy auto repair and service shop. The ideal candidate is has a proven track record of success and excellent service and repair experience.

Techs typically work 5 days each week unless a business need necessitates an additional day. Our techs must be well-versed in complex mechanical and electrical systems of vehicles and be excellent problem-solvers. They must also be able to explain technical issues to customers so they can make well-informed decisions. Weekends are mandatory for these positions. You must provide your own tools; specialty tools are available if needed and are provided by the company. We will offer tool assistance for part-time techs.

This position is commission-based. You are paid a very competitive wage at the greater of hourly pay or commission, so pay is commensurate with volume of work completed. The more cars we have, the more money you make. This is a great way to get paid for the work you do rather than just punching a time clock!

General duties include:

• Inspect vehicle mechanical, electronic, and electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
• Conduct routine maintenance (fluid replacement, lubrication, etc.).
• Repair/replace broken or malfunctioning parts.

Job Qualifications:

• Proven automotive repair experience (2 years ).
• Excellent working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle components.
• Ability to use various tools and heavy equipment such as vehicle lift.
• Excellent physical condition including the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• High school diploma or certification from a vocational/apprenticeship program.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• ASE certification is a plus. We will assist with renewal fees and offer incentives to renew ASEs.

Pay is commensurate with experience and skill level. The range in this posting is the minimum and may be adjusted based on candidate qualifications.
