Position: General Manager (GM)
Key Goals and Vision for this Position:
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities, leading staff, membership sales, personal training & team training sales, member retention, and conflict resolution. The GM will also ensure efficient and effective performance to reach financial objectives, foster D1 core values, establish community relationships to promote the D1 brand, and drive local market awareness and engagement activities. The GM’s main responsibility is to create a D1 Environment that motivates and inspires all to be their best and achieve their goals.
Major Role/Focus:
Sales/Revenue/Budgets:
- High focus on sales to achieve desired revenue goals through the leadership and motivation of Staff
- Responsible for driving membership core training, personal training and team training sales
- In partnership with owners, prepare yearly budgets and continually manage and review revenue and expenditures to hit financial goals of the organization
- Ensure we recruit D1 Coaches able to provide D1 Overtime, Camps, Team Training focused on local sport needs
Marketing:
- Responsible for ensuring lead generation and management
- Develop Community partnerships with Clubs, Teams, Schools, Businesses, Key leaders/influencers, Charities
- Conduct local marketing events to drive prospects, revenue and promote D1 to increase goodwill and market awareness
- Track success of marketing and promotional efforts of facility and staff
Leadership:
- Attract, hire and retain facility staff teammates; responsible for team training, motivating, scheduling and appraising
- Foster an authentic, open, transparent culture where honest feedback is welcome – highly effective communicator, role model for team
- Development of daily/weekly/monthly meetings and agendas, goals for team
- Identify and develop tactical objectives for the organizational excellence in all aspects
- Strong ability to empower and delegate
- Organized with attention to details
Client Management:
- Client comes first
- Perform initial consultations for new members
- Customer service and conflict resolution: Ability to resolve potential conflict and dealing directly with customers to provide a positive customer experience through surveying, class audits, and personally soliciting feedback from clients.
Operations:
- Ensure facility meets standards for open/closing, cleanliness, maintenance, safety and security; utilize daily and weekly check-lists
- Reinforce to team that cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility
- Assist in processing/submission and approval of payroll
D1 Partnership Relations:
- Serve as the primary liaison for facility
- Keep partners abreast of all financial performance and operational issues, weekly and monthly
- Engage in strategic planning and goal setting for the organization
Special Skills/Competencies/Experience:
- Proficient in Sales. Fitness industry experience is a plus but not required
- Marketing: How-to use social media for marketing (both organically and paid search) & client engagement. Ability to market the D1 product effectively in local markets
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications, as well as point of sales systems (Mind Body and Loyal Snap a plus)
- Knowledge in basic business principles in management, marketing, human resources, and finance
- Effective time management and follow-through skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all stakeholders of the company (owners, associates, customers, community leaders, D1 Leadership Team)
- Assure compliance with all company and governmental policies and procedures and laws
Accountability Measures:
- Adherence to, and promotion of, the D1 Core Values
- Achievement of annual financial goals and company KPI’s
- Ensure consistent delivery of a quality D1 product to the customer
- Growth of membership through retention and local marketing initiatives
- Effective management of daily operations of the facility including facility maintenance, customer service, employee supervision, vendor relations, and business processes and reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
- 3 years of sales experience
- 2 years of experience in leading a team – hiring, training, accessing, discipline, supporting
- Knowledge of gym or retail operations. Highly energetic with a “can do” attitude
- Understanding of financial metrics including P&L, revenue, budgeting, inventory, payroll

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
