Youth Summer Camp Executive Director
The Summer in Wiseburn camps are operated through a partnership between the Da Vinci Schools Fund, Wiseburn Education Foundation, Wiseburn USD, and Da Vinci Schools. The vision of the camp is to create a summer camp experience, in Wiseburn, that brings kids and families together, in various ways, enriching their lives and bringing them joy.
Summer 2025 marks the second year that we are offering our Summer in Wiseburn camps. With this endeavour comes the commitment to all the values our schools stand for, which includes creating safe, enriching, inclusive environments where all kids can grow and thrive.
The Executive Director will begin part time (virtual or hybrid) in the Spring for up to 15 hours per week. During camp, the Executive Director will commit 7 hours per day over the course of the four week camp.
Job Description
The Youth Summer Camp Executive Director is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of a dynamic and enriching summer camp program. This role requires a passionate and experienced leader who can create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for campers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual camp plan, including program goals, budgets, and schedules.
- Oversee the development and implementation of innovative and engaging camp activities and themes.
- Collaborate with camp staff to create a positive and supportive camp culture.
- Program Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise camp staff, including counselors, activity leaders, and support personnel.
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, licensing requirements, and best practices in youth programming.
- Manage camper enrollment and registration processes, including marketing and promotional activities.
- Oversee daily camp operations, including scheduling, logistics, and emergency procedures.
- Be on site for daily camp operations
- Monitor and evaluate camp programs to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.
- Respond to parent/guardian inquiries and concerns within a timely manner
- Develop discipline policy, enforce the policy with campers, and call home to parents/guardians when violations to the policy occur.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the camp budget, including revenue generation, expense control, and financial reporting.
- Secure funding and sponsorships to support camp operations and programming.
- Community Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, and community partners.
- Represent the camp at community events and functions.
- Collaborate with local organizations to create partnerships and opportunities for campers.
- Risk Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive risk management plans to ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff.
- Respond to emergencies and crises in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in youth program management, preferably in a camp setting.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation: $50/hour
