As part of DAC Beachcroft's ongoing expansion of the firm's global offering to clients across insurance, we are looking to recruit an Associate to join our newly opened New York office.

Our New York office provides advice to global Insurers and their Insureds across a wide spectrum of classes of insurance but with a particular focus on complex coverage issues and reinsurance matters.

We are looking to recruit ideally an Associate to join the Team and support our drive to become the go-to Insurance firm. The right candidate will gain exposure to a wide variety of cases, client contacts and working closely with senior attorneys - whilst working in an environment that provides a large degree of autonomy and an excellent work/life balance.

This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid role, which will see the successful applicant providing support to a team of 8 attorneys. If you're eager to make an impact in a growing US team, and be part of one of the largest insurance practices of any law firm, then we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing caseload and/or supporting Partners and colleagues on larger complex insurance claims.
• Analysing and applying legal principles and facts to derive technically sound, commercial strategies for complex cases and insurance policy coverage issues.
• Drafting and reviewing correspondence, reports and litigation documents.
• Maintaining caseload in good organisational shape and in accordance with client quality and service level agreements.
• Developing an understanding of the client's, and our wider business, and how the two fit together.
• Demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  
  

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Ideally a New York Bar admitted junior attorney (ideally 3 years ) with litigation and policy coverage work experience (although we remain open to those with a broader insurance background).
• The ability to run your own caseload and work in an autonomous fashion.
• Strong academic record.
• Capable of analysing and applying legal principles to a complex factual scenario, with a view to achieving a commercial resolution for the client.
• Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day-to-day issues.
• The ability to think and act quickly and under pressure for clients who find themselves in crisis.
• Team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
