Description
The Air Export Specialist is responsible for coordinating all aspects of air export shipments.
- Coordinates customer air import shipments with vendors, shippers, truckers and airlines.
- Executes air shipments according to documentation and maintains understanding of INCO Terms.
- Arranges deliveries for inland transportation and follows up to ensure shipments have reached their final destinations.
- Converts and verifies shipment weight and volume. Calculates rates and price conversions.
- Arranges timely and accurate billing.
- Responsible for audit compliance and adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
- Supports local sales efforts with timely responses to emails and rate requests.
- Maintains communications with customers, carriers, vendors and other Dachser offices.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in Air Export preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Air Export & TSA regulations and documentation.
- Hazmat certified
- Must be customer focused with a desire to provide outstanding service to both internal and external customers, while maximizing profit.
- Excellent carrier/vendor negotiation skills.
- Flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to changes readily.
- Proficiency in Windows programs, specifically Word and Excel.
- Professional demeanor, including excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Stellar organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work within a team environment where keeping open communication among your colleagues is vital.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ Work Environment:
- No heavy lifting is expected; although exertion of up to 20 pounds of force may be required on occasion.
- Manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment, such as computers, copiers, fax machines, etc.
- Sitting for extended periods of time is common.
- Hearing and vision within average range to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
- This position is performed in a traditional office setting.
