Audit Support Specialist

Summary:
Responsible for monitoring general ledger suspense and clearing accounts, including daily reviews of the Member Suspense GL and other unreconciled accounts, to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks. Work is performed under the direction of the Internal Audit Officer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform regular monitoring of general ledger suspense and clearing accounts to identify and address unusual entries.
- Ensure that suspense accounts are reconciled regularly and that outstanding items are promptly investigated and resolved.
- Periodically review general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Conduct daily monitoring in accordance with established internal audit procedures to identify potential risks, reporting any concerns to the Internal Audit Officer for further action.
- Perform quarterly ongoing monitoring reviews to assess adherence to credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
- Document findings and provide recommendations for process improvements to strengthen risk management efforts.
- Assist with special projects and investigations as assigned by the President/CEO and management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial risk management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum two-year college degree or equivalent training/experience.
- Familiarity with PC applications including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Detail oriented; excellent organizational, analytical and investigative skills.
- Maintains basic knowledge level regarding regulatory requirements and consumer protection.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive financial information.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to perform research independently and work under minimal supervision.
