Purpose of Position : The Chief of Staff serves as a confidential advisor to the President, oversees the staff in the Office of the President, plans key meetings and projects, liaises between the President and key external and internal groups, manages the office budget, oversees significant communications with campus stakeholders, and serves as liaison to the Board of Trustees.
Tasks / Duties Performed :

Serves as a confidential advisor to the President and as a member of the President's CabinetCoordinates and oversees the flow of incoming and outgoing communicationPrepares and / or contributes to the preparation of reports, proposals, briefings, and presentationsComposes, edits, and proofreads a wide variety of materials and documentsMaintains the President's calendar, ensuring accuracy and event detailsOrganizes the President's travel scheduleFacilitates the effective planning and organization of all presidential meetingsRepresents the President and / or Board of Trustees to various campus constituencies and at events within the communityServes as the President's representative on committees and task forces.Serves as a liaison between the President and other campus constituentsPromotes a positive image of the college at all timesSafeguards the confidentiality of the institution and exercises appropriate discretion in handling confidential matters and recordsAttends all Board, cabinet and special group meetings (as assigned) to record, prepare, distribute, and create a written record as neededAnswers inquiries, makes appropriate referrals, and resolves problems, especially those that require the interpretation, explanation, and justification of administrative policies and proceduresSupervises the staff within the Office of the PresidentManages the financial records for the Office of the President and coordinates the payment of billsPlans and coordinates all events at the College originating from the Office of the PresidentServes as co-chair of the College's Commencement Committee, including scheduling and overseeing meetings with campus constituents involved with the eventUndertakes special projects and performs other duties as assigned by the PresidentIn addition, the Chief of Staff serves as the liaison with the Board of Trustees, including :
Organizing and attending all Board meetingsTaking, editing, and distributing all meeting minutesCoordinating, preparing materials for, and recording official actions of Board meetings, committee meetings, and trustee orientationsPreparing and providing safekeeping for the permanent records and minutes of the Board, and supervising the distribution of and access to records and minutesMaintaining current official texts of College documents, including the College charter, Board bylaws, and corporate resolutionsAssuring compliance with Board and College operating policies and proceduresManaging college communications with the Board, providing support services to all Trustees, and overseeing the Board portal and publicationsUnderstanding and being able to interpret Board and College operating policies and proceduresRequired Qualifications
Master's degreeEvidence of the ability to handle high level and sensitive confidential information with the highest integrityAbility to multi-task and to respond quickly to changing priorities and emerging situationsStrong attention to detail and excellent organizational skillsStrong professional oral and written skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent technology skills and ability to continue to learn emerging technologyExperience supervising others and setting high performance expectationsDemonstrated experience managing high profile, significant, and confidential mattersPreferred Qualifications
