The Democratic Attorneys General Association provides political and policy support to Democratic State Attorneys General and candidates in their mission to protect citizens, promote progress, and support civil rights.
Title: Deputy Campaign Services Director - Finance
Reports To: Director of Campaigns Services
Salary Range: $95,000-$105,000
Purpose: The Deputy Campaign Services Director - Finance is responsible for implementing DAGA’s political strategy and providing fundraising support and infrastructure to campaigns in targeted states. The Deputy Director works closely with the Director of Campaigns Services to provide necessary support to campaigns and is responsible for ensuring successful fundraising.
The Deputy Campaign Services Director - Finance position requires a high level of proven leadership and judgment and must demonstrate knowledge of political fundraising and campaign management. They must have experience in developing and implementing comprehensive political plans including finance plans and campaign budgets. Additionally, they must have the capacity to work independently with elected leaders and staff in complex political situations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee targeted campaign fundraising plans for key DAGA states in coordination with elected officials, candidates, and their teams
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Attorneys General, candidates, and potential candidates, and their teams in targeted states
- Travel to states as needed to evaluate and assist in building a strong fundraising program.
- Provide necessary fundraising training to campaign staff and candidates as needed
- Implement benchmarks to ensure campaign accountability when achieving or fall short of fundraising benchmarks
- Work with Campaign Managers and candidates to identify and hire finance directors and provide as needed support as managers oversee finance operations
- Collaborate with finance directors to ensure realistic and appropriate goals and projections, making sure cashflow projections are accurate
- Collaborate with DAGA Development team to identify opportunities for donor engagement with campaigns, ensure campaigns are hitting benchmarks, and provide donors with strategic campaign updates
- Project manage cross-departmental outputs for campaigns; communicating priorities with other members of DAGA staff
- Collect and distribute information on the campaigns to DAGA leadership and interested parties
- Oversee candidate training at DAGA conferences and provide memos and briefings for candidates
- Prepare and submit regular reports as requested by the Candidate Services Director
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- 2-3 cycles of campaign experience with at least two cycles in significant fundraising role
- Expertise directing successful political fundraising campaigns and meeting goals over $4M
- Knowledge building an effective major donor program is a plus
- Experience managing and building fundraising operations on political or advocacy campaigns
- Experience successfully managing and advising staff and principals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience drafting strategic documents and tracking documents or spreadsheets
- Ability to independently operate in the field with state leadership, staff, and local constituencies
- Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities across states
- An outside of the box thinker with a good sense of humor and a positive attitude
