Our growing LNG client is looking to find a Benefits Analyst to join their Human Resources team in Arlington, Virginia. This person will report to the Benefits Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company provided employee benefit programs. The ideal candidate will have fundamental knowledge of the health and welfare plans (e.g. medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, etc.), wellness programs, retirement plans, and basic experience with benefits administration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Benefits Administrator with management and day-to-day operations of the benefit plans.
- Respond to employee benefits questions and resolve benefits issues.
- Coordinate with company appointed benefits vendors to ensure proper services are provided to the employees and to the company.
- Support the annual open enrollment process.
- Support the absence management process and help with individual leave administration tasks.
- Participate in the annual review and design of benefit programs.
- Evaluate and revise internal benefits processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Coordinate daily benefits processing and handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, life events and compliance requirements.
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee enrollment records.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefits processes.
- Analyze current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits programs.
- Help to perform plan audits and review data accuracy.
- Support the broader HR team on special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; experience with HRIS (preferably ADP WorkfoceNow) and benefits databases.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborating across teams.
- Effective planning and priority setting.
- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Strong analytical skills and a fundamental knowledge of different benefit plans.
- Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals (RFPs).
- Basic knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, affecting employee benefits programs, such as: the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field preferred.
- One to five years of experience related benefits coordination/administration.
- In the process of obtaining SHRM and/or CEBS professional designations preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
