Summary

Works closely with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure product availability and minimize freight costs.

Coordinate/perform cycle counting activities and report monthly inventory accuracy for all raw materials. Implement corrective action for areas that are below the acceptable level of accuracy. Coordinate storage and inventory levels for consignment inventory. Requisition of all non-production supplies: (Safety supplies, shipping supplies, gases, solvents, etc.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyzes inventory levels; using KANBAN methods to determine reorder levels. .
  • Review physical inventory for slow moving and obsolete material.
  • Coordinate storage and inventory levels for consignment inventory.
  • Update weekly consignment inventory reports.
  • Ensures correct inventory transactions and accounting for RMA's
  • Ensures and requisitions all non-production supplies: (Safety supplies, shipping supplies, gases, solvents, etc.)
  • Responsible for coordinating Certification /Re-certification of shipping containers with Safety, Shipping and Government Certified agencies.
  • Follow up on orders, expedite past due orders, coordinate with purchasing on return of damaged or incorrect items.
  • Stocking of all non-production supplies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of inventory methodologies is a plus. DOT/ICAO certification and forklift certification is required.

  • 2-4 years' experience in Inventory Control concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience in a high -volume Kanban manufacturing environment.
  • Personal computer experience (Excel, Word).
  • Thorough knowledge of computerized ERP systems and cycle counting principles.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Considerable contact with purchasing department and suppliers
  • Must be able to read and understand SOPs and MSP's.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English

Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). This position also requires the ability to read and understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations associated with this position which are written in English. Must be able to work flexible hours (meetings, training, shift coverage, overtime).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, including radiation. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc.'s manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas, communicate with others, and detect or exchange information or ideas. The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and test equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
