What are the responsibilities and job description for the SR. SALES & OPS PLANNING ANALYST position at Dairy Farmers of America?
Support the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process to ensure effective demand and supply alignment. Function as a resource for S&OP team members, business partners, and other key stakeholders. Resolve functional and cross-functional problems with data / analysis and demonstrate a keen understanding of business impacts and associated operations (factory, co-packer, customer, etc.). Develop supply, and capacity plans and solutions, and inventory targets. Develop and execute raw material procurement strategies and manage operations relationships, production schedules, and deliveries.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Inventory Planning & Management :
- Develop inventory replenishment strategies, manage inventory levels, and ensure the successful execution of allocation processes
- Collaborate with demand, supply and production planners on inventory availability for customer orders
- Develop and implement inventory reporting, report inventory trends, and action plan tracking
- Develop action plans to resolve excess and stranded inventory levels working closely with sales, finance, and other planning teams to mitigate financial impacts
- Oversee stock levels to ensure materials are in right location, ensure utilization of product rotation best practices, and develop action plans for slow moving / obsolete materials
- Oversee the management of undergrade inventory, work closely with plants to maximize rework utilization and the selloff or destruction of distressed inventory
- Analyze and prevent aging inventory; monitor raw materials and finished goods
- Work across all supply chain functions and lead the resolution of complex issues that are surfaced
- Efficiently manage finished goods inventory to maximize service level to customers (order fill rate, case fill rate and on-time delivery)
- Ensure the successful execution of the inventory allocation process
- Demand & Supply Planning :
- Develop sourcing strategy from internal and external manufacturing sources. Sourcing analysis to include landed continuity of supply (COS), P&L impacts, and complex supply chain (milk flows, multiple converters, packaging, freight, etc.)
- Lead the management of comprehensive production planning models based on material supply to increase customer service levels and improve operational efficiencies
- Develop action plans to resolve complex operational issues that affect supply
- Plan for unexpected demand and supply opportunities. Focus on service level performance, inventory optimization, and cost of goods through supply optimization
- Monitor and communicate trends and cross-functionally develop recommendations for continuous improvement
- Lead weekly and monthly planning meetings with both internal and external manufacturing sources
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for raw material requirements derived from the finished goods demand plan. Develop and maintain vendor relationships. Collaborate with customers supply chain as needed
- Develop and implement comprehensive supply and capacity plans. Analyze long-term production capacity and develop annual capacity planning models showing planned production, projected inventories capacity use, and available capacity by month
- Review accuracy of supply planning related master data; maintain, review, and update all inputs used to calculate production plan adherence, safety stocks, and inventory targets
- Other :
- Lead and / or support additional S&OP related analysis as needed
- Lead and / or support S&OP software implementation and ongoing management of software solution including data integrity, training, and ongoing support

- Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in supply chain or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of education and practical work experience)
- 5 to 8 years of supply planning, operations production planning, inventory management, or related experience that includes managing business relationships
- Certification and / or License may be required during course of employment; APICS Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM) preferred
- Proficient knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
- In-depth understanding of production capacities, constraints, and cost / service trade-offs
- Broad business knowledge including financial analytics and stakeholder partnership
- Skill in analytical thinking and problem solving
- Able to lead diverse teams to successfully deliver on requirements
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, for a diverse range of internal and external audiences
- Able to elicit cooperation from variety of sources, including management, production planning, quality teams, logistics, procurement, etc.
