Description
The Dairy One Forage Lab is an international leader in feed and forage analysis. We provide customers with a variety of analyses including traditional wet chemistry and Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Our customers include individual producers, Agri-Service personnel, consultants, veterinarians, universities, and zoos.
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician III to join the NIR team. This position provides critical support to NIR Affiliate laboratories and includes a combination of production support and maintenance, lab work, and data collection and processing. Duties include:
• Preparing and performing sample analyses using established protocols.
• Coordinating laboratory schedule to achieve production and research goals.
• Performing instrument maintenance and repairs.
• Working with proprietary software to collect and organize data for calibration development
A Laboratory Technician III is also expected to collaborate and communicate across all Forage Lab Departments. Furthermore, the Laboratory Technician III will work with the NIR Services Manager to provide support services for the Dairy One Worldwide Network of Affiliated Labs as well as other NIR related projects. Accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work independently are essential to this position.
Requirements
The position requires a bachelor's degree in a science-related field and at least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient computer skills, preferably using Microsoft Word and Excel. A strong understanding of animal nutrition and/or strong computing skills are highly desirable.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in a science field and at least 2 years of lab experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient computer skills, preferably using Microsoft Word and Excel.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a laboratory where there is exposure to chemicals and occasional exposure to dust and noise. The use of protective safety equipment is required.
MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS
Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring close coordination and fine adjustment.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Constantly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; talks or hears; and performs repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists. Regularly sits, stands, walks, and reaches with arms and/or hands. Occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, bends, and/or climbs. Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
