Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team within a fast-paced financial environment. This role involves the ongoing administration and maintenance of a highly available corporate infrastructure, leveraging expert-level Azure knowledge, managing cloud-based and on-premises systems. In addition, supporting security-related systems and the firm’s other infrastructure components while collaborating with IT teams to ensure operational excellence. This position demands deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, a commitment to providing 24x7 support of critical financial business operations and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Reporting to the Systems Manager in the Information Technology department, you will be an integral part of the Systems Administrators group operating in an environment of high team collaboration with a strong desire to respond and resolve problems and requests in a prompt manner.
Core Responsibilities:
Responsible for the ongoing administration, management, and strategic design of the firm’s infrastructure systems.
- Provide 24x7 support to maintain continuous uptime for the firm’s corporate infrastructure.
- Provide Level 2 and 3 support to other teams within the IT department.
- Provide support of O365/Exchange Online, Azure, Active Directory (AD), Entra ID.
- Management and Design of compliance-based systems (e.g. BloombergVault).
- Cloud based Infrastructure management, design and ongoing support.
- Management of applications, scripting, backups and on-prem infrastructure (Virtual/Physical).
- SFTP, NDM, SQL, DHCP, DNS, DFS, File Servers, PowerShell, SolarWinds, VMWare.
- SAN/NAS, SRM/RecoverPoint/Zerto and other storage technologies (EMC/Dell).
- Manage disaggregated hyperconverged infrastructure (Host, Storage, Networking).
- Manage and maintain relationships with hardware/software/infrastructure vendors.
- Manage and maintain relationships and peering states with market related vendors.
- Project Management – ability to lead and manage systems and infrastructure projects.
- Perform moves / adds / changes related to infrastructure.
- Design, maintain and support server-related systems; create and update documentation.
- Budgeting familiarity for equipment/software lifecycle management.
- Ongoing Data Center maintenance and inventory management.
- Address security related tasks / projects.
- Provide rotational on call support after-hours and on weekends.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience administering server/cloud infrastructure in a fast-paced financial services environment.
- 5 years administering O365/Exchange online, Azure, AD, and Cloud based Infrastructure.
- 5 years of experience with various storage technologies.
- Experience with HP/Dell/EMC storage, virtualization and dHCI high performance virtualization platforms.
- Experience with various systems, DNS, DHCP, SQL, DFS, PowerShell.
- Experience with Data Center management.
- Expert-level Azure knowledge. Proven skills in Azure administration, management, and design.
- Hands on experience with systems automation and scripting tools.
- Experience with network security systems / services as well as enterprise monitoring systems.
- Ability to work late in order to troubleshoot and perform upgrades and system maintenance outside of business hours.
- Ability to independently manage projects from research and testing to production deployment.
- Ability to mount server equipment. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Exceptional server/systems troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex technical issue.
- Excellent communication skills with a high focus on customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of high-level certifications in Microsoft Azure, Windows Administration, VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or other industry / Microsoft certifications.
- Skilled in disaster recovery and business continuity planning with hands-on experience managing tools like Zerto or RecoverPoint.
- Proven experience in similar IT infrastructure roles within financial services environments, ensuring an understanding of industry-specific security and compliance needs.
- Prior experience in training other staff members on technical systems and processes, showcasing leadership capabilities and team collaboration.
