Dakota OutdoorScapes is an award winning, rapidly growing small business based in Bismarck, ND. We specialize in landscape design/build construction for residential properties. We are looking for a professional Operations Manager to coordinate and oversee our organization’s operations. The operations manager role is mainly to implement the right processes and practices across the organization. The specific duties of an operations manager include formulating strategy, improving performance, procuring material and resources and ensuring an excellent customer experience. You should be ready to mentor your team members, find ways to increase quality of customer service and implement best practices across all levels. Ultimately, we’ll trust you to help us remain compliant, efficient and profitable during the course of business.
End of year bonus based on performance and financial goals $5-15K.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way
- Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
- Daily interactions with Designer, Production Mgr, and office admin
- Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee warehouse efficiency
- Formulate strategic and operational objectives
- Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability
- Manage budgets and forecasts
- Recruit, train and supervise staff
- Find ways to increase quality of customer service
- Long term planning to create initiatives to further company’s overall goals
- Constantly look for ways to improve productivity and efficiency
- Manage all physical property, plant and equipment
- Leader who motivates and promotes good company culture
- Build/Schedule efficient production calendars
- Order/maintain in house inventory
- Ensure shop stays organized
- Troubleshoot and help repair minor mechanical issues
- Make sure all equipment and vehicles are being properly maintained and kept tidy
- Visit customer sites
- Ensure excellent customer experience, and work to maintain all current customers
- Perform in-field production when needed
- Make production decisions based on weather, and what is best for the customer and the company
- Ability to work without supervision or being alone for extended periods of time
- Demonstrate Leadership
- Assist with Marketing planning, strategies, and implementation
- Proven track record with At least 2yrs experience managing 10 people
- Inspire and motivate employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement
- Identify potential problems and points of friction and working to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency and revenue
- Identify opportunities to expand or shift course in order to take advantage of changes in the market
- Business development
- Enhance employees work quality and efficiency
- Develop productive/efficient policies and procedure, and make sure they are implemented and followed
- Assist with budgeting and equipment/vehicle purchases
Skills
- Proven work experience as operations manager or similar role
- Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
- Experience budgeting and forecasting
- Familiarity with business and financial principles
- Familiarity with the landscape industry; or related construction business
- Leadership ability
- Ability to make quick decisions with a positive impact on the company
- Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot any issues with trucks/trailers/equipment
- Self-Starter and Self-sufficient
- Extremely organized
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, interpersonal
- Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to speak Spanish, or willingness to learn
- Degree in Business, Operations Management, Horticulture or related field
- (Experience can be supplemented for degree)
- 6:00am-6:00pm during production season(Apr-Nov) 9am-1pm offseason(Dec-Mar)

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
