We are currently seeking to fill Automation and Manufacturing Engineer positions.
As an Engineer at Dakota Tube, you will report directly to the President of the company and work closely with the rest of the engineering, maintenance, and sales team. You will manage projects with a well-funded capital equipment budget and your work will contribute to improvements for customers, suppliers, and employees in the company. The job will occasionally involve travel to various locations for various purposes.
The ideal candidate should have some experience working with PLCs, building projects from start to finish, and experience with process design. They should have an interest in mechanical design and automation, and be able to translate the goals of the company into delivered projects. If the above is appealing, we'd like to meet you!
Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Learn about our products, our manufacturing processes, our customers, and our business strategies
- Meet weekly with the President to discuss progress on open and future projects and work through any challenges
- Manage exciting automation or other design projects utilizing Stage-Gate process management
- Design and build specialty machines
- Complete ad-hoc engineering tasks and some regular technical work
Support manufacturing, including:
- Participate in and lead continuous improvement
- Design and build fixtures and tooling
- Conduct manufacturing studies (time, quality, etc.)
- Assist with lineside issues at the direction of the plant manager and president
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or related field of study
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with Solidworks
- Experience with automation projects
