Job Overview:

We are seeking a Miller Trainee to join our team. This opportunity provides individuals with hands-on experience in specialty grain milling and blending operations and leadership skills development. Miller Trainees will undergo comprehensive training in operating grain cleaning, milling, flaking, cracking, and blending systems. They will also gain proficiency in food safety, OSHA regulations, and manufacturing procedures.

Pay: starting at 24.00 DOE (shift differential is paid for overnight and weekends)

Hours: 12-hour shift day or overnight.

The work schedule is one week 48 hours (8 hours overtime paid) and one week 36 hours. Work hours are either 5 AM to 5:30 PM or 5PM to 5:30 AM.

Essential Functions:

1. General Duties

a. Properly blends assorted grains to make the correct baking mix, cereal, or other finished good and component product.

b. Monitors flaking, cracking, and cutting systems to ensure product is within specification.

c. Monitors cleaning houses and receiving raw materials to ensure clean and quality products enter the facility.

d. Supervises his crew in an efficient manner to ensure deadlines are met.

e. Follows established procedures to ensure the highest quality of mix, cereal or other finished good.

f. Assists in the training of new millers, auto-pack operators (Line 3 only) and packers.

2. Documentation and Record Keeping

a. Maintains accurate inventory levels through proper use of the Barcoding System.

b. Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.

3. Teamwork, Efficiency, and Safety

a. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

b. Shall ensure the daily functions to maintain all food safety objectives and The SQF Code are adhered to.

a. Able to work a rotating shift and weekend schedule.

b. Follows all Safety Policies with regards to Lock-Tag-Try, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and all other OSHA regulations.

c. Acts as an alternate for all DSM Miller, Packer, Blender, and Outside Receiving Operator positions.

4. Performs any task the supervisor deems necessary for completion or modification of a project.

5. Maintenance and Housekeeping

a. Maintain packaging machines and equipment in safe working order.

b. Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

c. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Do clean out after each run of the packer to prevent cross contamination of products.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 80 hours per bi-weekly pay period
