What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Medical Assistant -Clinic position at Dallam-Hartley Counties Hospital District?
Requirements:
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant certification.
- Experience: Preferred experience in medical office or clinic setting.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 50 pounds.
- Direct patient flow to and from exam rooms.
- Take and record vital signs, current complaint, and history.
- Recheck all information sheets for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist the provider in the exam/treatment of patients, including injections and other procedures by physician order or standing order.
- May perform in-clinic lab tests or draw blood for outside laboratory tests.
- Provide patient education as directed by provider
- Document all patient contact information.
- Prepare exam rooms and instruments as appropriate to anticipated utilization including cleaning and sterilizing of instruments.
- File reports in charts
- Order and maintain medical supplies and equipment
- Communicate with patients by phone, including screening phone calls for providers, answering patient questions to his/her ability, calling patients as needed for recheck or with lab results, and documenting all communication in the chart.
- Maintain the clinic’s inventory of drugs and biologicals in keeping with the Clinical Operational Procedures.
- Any other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager, Clinic’s Clinical Coordinator, and/or the provider supervising.
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.
- Interacts with patients, family members, medical staff members and other department managers on a continuous basis.
- Conducts patient satisfaction surveys as required.
- Follows safety guidelines and infection control policies for the Hospital District.
