What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Events Manager position at Dallas Arboretum?
Successfully develop, implement and oversee public events and programs that leverage programming partners throughout the garden, including food and garden programming in A Tasteful Place.
We are looking for a creative individual with business booking and/or cold calling experience, that is highly motivated, task driven, organized and great at execution; to plan year-round activities food and entertainment activities in the Dallas Arboretum to achieve front gate revenue and attendance goals according to public event areas assigned. This includes, but not limited to, booking free musical entertainment, maintaining and developing an active booking registry, activities such as cooking classes and demonstrations in our food network style kitchen, floral vendors for free and paid classes, recruit vendors to come and demonstrate their products, give out samples and sell their products to our garden guests. This individual is responsible for managing all vendor relationships related to free entertainment and free and paid food programming in the garden.
This position is a salaried position but will NOT be a Monday through Friday work schedule, as the Arboretum is open 7 days/week, 362 days/year. Weekend and evening work will be required frequently of this position. You will work closely with our marketing, operations, horticulture, volunteers and special events departments.
This is a revenue stream for both Public Events and the Dallas Arboretum. You are responsible to assure that events are garden appropriate, contracts are accurately and timely completed with relevant approvals, necessary forms are filled out for online registration classes and website execution, and invoices are processed for accuracy and timely payments.
