General Summary :
Responsible for purchasing various goods, services, and supplies for Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) Purchasing Section.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Performs pre-purchase planning and coordination with the requisitioner on complex procurements.
- Assists team members with procurements.
- Conducts all complex procurement activities in compliance with applicable procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Develops qualified and responsible sources of supply.
- Determines the method of purchase and prepares requests for quotations.
- Analyzes bids and quotations, negotiates prices, and selects suppliers after considering prices, quality, and ability to meet delivery requirements.
- Prepares purchase orders to reflect the negotiated agreement.
- Prepares and maintains purchase order files.
- Follows up on delinquent orders and expedites material necessary to meet a delivery requirement.
- Initiates and processes correspondence with vendors.
- Certifies and processes invoices for payment.
- Prioritizes assignments to meet requested delivery schedules.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Note : An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
Working Conditions :
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
