Job Summary
The Dallas College Facilities Management Department supports the facility needs for Dallas College while providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of the College's physical assets. The Facilities Management Department is responsible for approximately 5,000,000 sq. ft. of physical space and over 1400 acres of land, located across multiple locations in Dallas County. The Senior Access Control Technician position supports that effort through managing the College keys and access control systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced electronic access control systems, including programming, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Traditional locksmithing practices, such as key duplication, re-keying, and lock installation
- Surveillance camera systems, including installation, configuration, and video management software.
- Staff supervision principles, including scheduling, performance evaluation, and task delegation.
- Institutional security policies, industry standards, and applicable codes or regulations
- Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as TMA, for tracking work orders and time
- Experience with campus or similar door hardware and keying systems, Avigilon preferred.
- Effective leadership and communication skills to guide, train, and mentor staff.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for access control and surveillance systems.
- Proficiency with software and hardware related to electronic and mechanical security systems.
- Customer service skills to maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to supervise a team effectively, delegate responsibilities, and monitor performance.
- Ability to develop and implement procedures for system maintenance, repair, and upgrades.
- Ability to document work in a CMMS and generate reports on equipment and personnel performance.
- Ability to manage budgets, track expenses, and plan for future system upgrades or expansions.
- Ability to stay updated on emerging technologies in access control and security systems.
- Ability to read schematics and use hand and power tools.
- Ability to use an enterprise resource management system to manage budgets, procure parts and labor, write performance reports, etc.
