Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented PR & Communications Coordinator to join our team for Summer 2025. This temporary position is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in public relations and destination marketing. The Coordinator will support the PR and Communications team with various projects, including media relations, content creation, and event coordination.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting press materials, including media alerts, press releases, and pitches.
  • Support media outreach efforts by maintaining and updating media contact lists.
  • Help coordinate media familiarization (FAM) tours, including logistics and scheduling.
  • Monitor and compile media coverage reports.
  • Assist with research and writing for editorial opportunities and media stories.
  • Support the team in social media planning and content creation as needed.
  • Provide administrative support for the department, including organizing digital assets and assisting with internal communications.
  • Maintain data integrity of contacts, itineraries, in-kind, inventory, etc. in databases (CRM)

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Expected Competencies, Performance Attributes and Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of the tourism & hospitality industry, especially as it pertains to Dallas.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain the organization's voice and style.
  • Efficient in coordinating multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
  • High level of professional maturity; works well with multiple internal and external teams and diverse personalities.
  • Ability to pivot priorities based on real-time feedback or changing needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to foster and nurture professional relationships, ensuring positive interactions.
  • Team player mentality, demonstrating dependability and accountability in contributing to the success of shared goals.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn, with a growth mindset toward acquiring new skills.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
  • Experience and proficiency working with Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The person in this role will mostly operate in an office environment with frequent and consistent use of a laptop computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, cell phone and copier. It is partly a sedentary role with extended work time sitting and using a cell phone and computer with desktop accessories. There may be occasions working at off-site locations including the convention center, restaurants, music venues and hotels where the environments will vary.

Expected Hours of Work and Travel:

This is a part-time temporary position with an expectation of up to 32 hours of work each week with flexible scheduling. The regular office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm. The person in this role will not be expected to travel for work.
