This position is responsible for supporting the activities of the front-line motor vehicle staff, running reports and providing input to overall department management. This position has functional supervision over Motor Vehicle Clerk.

- Assists dealerships and customers in the completion of title transfers in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Monitors DOT changes/updates and communicates with all staff.
- Assists in training new staff members and existing staff learning new job responsibilities
- Completes notations or releases of security interests as sent in by lienholders and separate from title transfers.
- Assists Motor Vehicle Clerks in the completion of transactions, advises, educates and explains legalities.
- Monitors and maintains vehicle emails, disperses responses to assisting clerks.
- Maintains balance of cash drawer and related logs.
- Processes web renewals.
- Maintains daily job rotation to properly staff office when Motor Vehicle Supervisor is absent.
- Collects fees and/or validate documents as required.
- Inspects documents and/or transactions for potential fraud, including odometer fraud, dealer fraud, etc.
- Prints off daily reports and assists in daily balancing.
- Assists in the completion of required paperwork.
- Monitors Qmatic system, daily appointment schedule and manages system in the absence of the supervisor
- Maintains and scans files and records in hard copy and digital formats.
- Serves as backup to the Motor Vehicle Supervisor.
- Serves as backup to the Motor Vehicle Supervisor.
- Performs related duties.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three to five years of work related experience in customer service.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle laws and regulations, including the legal requirements of ownership and title documentation requirements as they relate to trusts, deaths and any other legal area.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle laws, regulations and procedures for all states.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skill in the provision of customer services.
- Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
- Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and must distinguish between shades of color.
