Fleet Specialist III - Tech 2 (260 Days)-(RTP20250129-003)
Description
Service vehicles according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
Rotate and balance tires, change oil and filters, lubricate vehicle parts, inspect and replace hoses, belts, mirrors, lamps, and maintain all fluid levels.
Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.
Maintain accurate and updated records of preventive maintenance.
Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and services.
Diagnoses mechanical problems of vehicles.
Promotes high standards of safety and acceptable housekeeping methods in all working areas.
Performs mechanical duties such as a general mechanics functions and recognition and repair of all safety equipment.
Operate engine hoist and forklift as required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent () required
Minimum three (3) years auto / truck maintenance and repair experience
Meet TEA qualifications for school bus drivers or obtain within 6 months of employment
Posses and maintain proper bus driving certification or obtain within 6 months of employment
Possess a current Texas Class “A” or “B” Commercial Driver’s License, with “P” and “S” endorsements or obtain within 6 months of employment
Must be able to drive a vehicle with airbreaks
Knowledge of school bus / automotive mechanical components
Ability to speak Spanish preferred
Ability to work shifts as needed.
Ability to use time wisely to ensure proficient and effective operations
Minimum of four (4) ASE Automotive Certifications (Automotive A1-A-8 or Medium / Heavy Duty Truck T1-T6, or School Bus S1-S7) or obtain ASE certifications within 18 months of 18 months of employment, or TASBT Texas Association of School bus Technicians equivalent.
Possess and maintan airbreak certification
Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and effectively perform repairs for all vehicles. This will include removal / replacement of engines, fuel systems, electrical, and diagnose transmissions (RR)
Knowledge of Service Maxx, Diamond Logic builder, Cummins In-site, Mercedes, Detroit, and Alison doc programs
After treatment systems including EGR Valves EGR Coolers, SCR, DPF. DOC and Injector Diagnostics
