Dallas Regional Medical Centeris a 202-bed acute care hospital accredited by The Joint Commission that offers a wide range of medical services including 24/7 emergency care, cardiology, wound care, surgical services, cardiac catheterization, and imaging.
The hospital is the only Certified Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain Center, and Labor and Delivery Unit in the area. In addition, Dallas Regional is the only Trauma Center for 13 miles, and was the first Accredited Geriatric Emergency Room in Dallas County. - The Trauma Registrar is responsible for the collection, completion, and verification of the accuracy of all patient data collected from the Trauma Registry data collection system.
- This position is crucial to the implementation of quality assurance and improvement issues by serving as the foundation of the Trauma Program.
- The Registrar creates and maintains clinical and statistical data, AIS coding, ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes, and abstracts various data elements as required by the American College of Surgeons, the National Trauma Data Bank, Trauma Program, and DRMC Hospital.
- The Registrar will provide data and statistics from the trauma registry to the Trauma Manager monthly and as requested.
- As time allows, the Registrar will assist the Trauma Manager with trauma outreach efforts.
- This position is held accountable by the standards of the trauma registry and reports directly to the Trauma Manager.
Education and Work Experience
1.High School Diploma or Equivalent required
2. Current BLS certification upon hire and maintain current required
3. Basic typing skills, computer literacy, and experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
4. 3 years clinical healthcare related experience
5. Ability to multitask with prioritizing and meeting deadlines
6. Trauma data base training, preferred.
7. Data entry skills, knowledge of basic anatomy ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM coding, E-codes, and Injury Severity Scoring preferred.
8. An understanding of quality assurance and process improvement preferred.
9. Experience with data analysis and report writing desired.
10. Successful passing of Certification Examination for Trauma Registrars -CSTR (Certified Specialist in Trauma Registers) preferred.
