Position Summary:

 

The Employment and Hospitality Training Case Manager is a dynamic role that combines individualized employment case management with the direct supervision of a hands-on hospitality training program. This position is responsible for supporting clients in overcoming employment barriers, managing their career pathways, and helping them develop critical skills in the hospitality industry. In addition, the role emphasizes trauma-informed practices to foster a safe, supportive, and healing environment for clients, many of whom may have experienced trauma or hardship.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workforce development, experience in hospitality, and a compassionate approach rooted in trauma-informed care.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments to identify strengths, barriers, and goals related to employment and self-sufficiency.
  • Develop individualized employment plans, including steps toward job readiness, skill development, and career progression.
  • Provide ongoing one-on-one case management, including resume building, interview coaching, and job search assistance.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify transferable skills and assist in securing employment, internships, or apprenticeships in hospitality or related fields.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of risk factors, cultural competencies, business techniques, and workforce needs and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with Education and Employment Program Manager and Cafe Oztara General Manager to recruit and screen potential participants based on eligibility criteria and offer information sessions to interested candidates.
  • Connect clients to supportive services (e.g., housing, mental health, childcare, transportation) as needed, using a trauma-informed approach.

 

  • Help orient new participants into the program by going over program expectations, eligibility, and documentation.

 

  • Conduct participant initial screenings and comprehensive assessment of job readiness, strengths, and barriers, and establish Individual Employment Plans with participants. Monitor plans regularly.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hands-on hospitality training program, including scheduling, curriculum development, and student supervision.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to clients as they develop skills in areas such as food service, housekeeping, front desk operations, and customer service.
  • Teach life and soft skills needed to (including but not limited to effective communication, Interpersonal skills, employability skills, ) in order to obtain and maintain employment and advance and or increase income.

 

  • Ensure training activities meet industry standards and help clients gain practical skills needed for success in hospitality jobs.
  • Facilitate workshops and on-the-job training sessions, providing both technical skills development and soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Foster relationships with local employers and hospitality organizations to create pathways for client internships, job placements, and continued learning opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that acknowledges and respects the experiences of all clients.
  • Incorporate trauma-informed principles into all aspects of case management and training supervision, including recognizing signs of trauma, offering emotional support, and fostering a sense of empowerment and autonomy.
  • Train program staff and clients on the importance of trauma-informed care, promoting resilience and emotional well-being within the hospitality training environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on trauma-informed approaches and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, including local employers, training providers, and social service agencies.
  • Collaborate with local hospitality businesses to secure internships, job placements, and volunteer opportunities for clients.
  • Advocate for clients by facilitating communication between employers and participants, ensuring that they are supported in their transition from training to employment.
  • Coordinate with other case managers and service providers to ensure comprehensive, wraparound support for each client.
  • Track client progress, including skills development, job placements, and retention rates, ensuring program goals and metrics are met.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, client records, and training documentation.
  • Prepare regular reports for internal stakeholders and funders on client outcomes, program performance, and areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the training program, using client feedback and employment outcomes to continuously improve and refine the curriculum.

 

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Hospitality Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred. They should have a background in employment case management, workforce development, or job coaching, particularly with clients facing barriers to employment, and hands-on experience in the hospitality industry. Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A strong understanding of trauma-informed care, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience with diverse populations, including those affected by homelessness or domestic violence, are essential. Proficiency in case management software and MS Office, along with strong organizational skills, is also required.

  • Salary: $50-52,000
