Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer, Senior
The onsite infrastructure & Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud and containerized environments for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). This role includes managing OpenShift / Kubernetes clusters, automating infrastructure provisioning, and ensuring compliance with security best practices across cloud and on-premise environments. The engineer will collaborate with developers, security teams, and stakeholders to align infrastructure with mission objectives. Strong proficiency in OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS services, CI / CD tools (GitLab CI / CD, Jenkins, ArgoCD), and IaC (Terraform, Helm, Ansible, CloudFormation). Must have a Solid understanding of networking, security best practices, and service mesh technologies (Istio, Greymatter). Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical solutions effectively.
Key Responsibilities :
The engineer will manage and optimize OpenShift & Kubernetes (K8s) clusters, integrating AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, Route 53, and Secrets Manager while overseeing K8s DNS & Key Management (CoreDNS, ExternalDNS, Kubernetes Secrets). Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining CI / CD pipelines using GitLab CI / CD, Jenkins, and ArgoCD, and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, Helm, Ansible, and CloudFormation. The role requires deploying and troubleshooting UiPath Automation Suite, managing Redis caching strategies and MS SQL Server administration, as well as ensuring Kubernetes networking configurations, Greymatter & Istio Service Mesh management, and enforcement of security best practices (RBAC, OAuth 2.0, TLS certificates, SIEM tools, and compliance frameworks).
The engineer will work closely with stakeholders to assess infrastructure requirements, maintain system configurations, and ensure security compliance. They will collaborate with application developers to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability, implement key management and DNS solutions, and proactively address infrastructure challenges. Clear documentation and knowledge sharing will be key to success in this role.
Requirements :
- Active TS / SCI clearance with CI Polygraph (or eligibility).
- On-site work required at a DIA facility.
- Security CE (or higher certification) required
- 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and automation.
- Bachelors Degree & 5 years experience
