Dane County Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona, WI has a full-time (1.0 FTE) vacancy for a Clinical Education Coordinator position.

DEFINITION
Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), the Clinical Education Coordinator leads workforce education and training for all departments at Badger Prairie Health Care Center with a focus on regulatory compliance in all clinical areas. Possesses a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and clinical skills, and stays up to date with changes in regulations and standards of practice as they occur in order to educate and train employees in all departments at Badger Prairie Health Care Center (BPHCC).
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The Clinical Education Coordinator works cooperatively with department head managers to facilitate orientation, training, educational programs, annual meetings, skills testing as well as individual education as needed. Ensures employees are competent to perform their assigned duties and that the facility is in compliance with regulatory requirements relating to staff credentialing and education. Provides services associated with ongoing professional development of staff at the facility, makes recommendations for and assists in identifying and implementing Quality improvement and assurance plans. Assists in developing, performing, delegating and reviewing audits related to resident care, employee safety and other identified focus areas for compliance. Provides oversight and supervision of employees’ clinical care to residents and provides leadership to nursing staff as needed. Provides new employee orientation for all departments. Develops and delivers training programs which are consistent with facility demographics, assists with root cause analysis when need for improvement is identified. Assists with policy and procedure updates regarding regulatory competency and education needs. Assists in designing educational programs. Tracks employee compliance in required continuing education and assists in ensuring employees receive and acknowledge receipt of mandatory information. Acts in a consultant / liaison capacity for all managers and departments related to policies and procedures in resident care, employee safety and nursing home regulatory enforcement.Education, Training and Experience:
Must possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and at least two (2) years’ experience in long term care with Geriatric or Psychiatric populations.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse and legally able to practice in the State of Wisconsin. Must also be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Must possess instructor training certification or receive instructor training certification to provide training and re-certify individuals for BLS / CPR for health care providers within 12 months of hire.
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid driver’s license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Access to a telephone. No previous criminal convictions for abuse, mistreatment or neglect of others. Free of clinically apparent communicable disease. Occasional evening and weekend shifts are necessary. Also refer to the “Physical and Environmental Requirements” section below.

Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:
Ability to exert physical effort in moderate to heavy work, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, and moving 50 pounds unassisted. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to run at least one (1) flight of stairs to respond to emergency situations. Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents. Ability to operate equipment and machinery requiring complex and rapid adjustments such as sphygmomanometer, otoscope, syringes, feeding pumps, IVs, O2 cannulas and concentrators, nasal tubes, stethoscopes, glucometer, nebulizer, suction machines, and oxygen equipment, and thermometers. Ability to handle, load and unload, and move and guide material using simple tools. Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position and be in good general health. Ability to relate to and support individuals within the facility who are mentally/physically disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile. Potential for exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including blood borne and air borne pathogens. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, up to and including, an N95 respirator.Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English language in an understandable manner. Knowledge of terminology, theory techniques and current standards of nursing practice. Ability and skill in teaching and demonstrating proper clinical procedures. Knowledgeable of the principals of adult learning and curriculum / program development, implementation, associated aids and available resources in carrying out comprehensive training programs. Ability to effectively use office equipment such as computers and printers. Ability to collaborate in development and implementation of resident care. Ability to analyze data and information using established criteria. Ability to work collaboratively and cooperative with inter-disciplinary team and lead, assist and monitor the work of nursing personnel. For Bilingual Positions:
- Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.).
